My husband gave me dusty pink roses for my birthday. I quickly realized that aside from green, shades of pinks are the main colors in the summer garden at present-with peonies and spirea bushes. Along with the rich brown hue of the Serenity Statue.  I love pinks of all kinds. Maybe because they begin as the color red?  Throughout history, people have recognized emotional associations to colors that transcend cultures.

As a photographer, I’m especially interested in how light affects colors and textures, and how when the light changes, it then affects the color relationships. You can hold a camera to a subject and the light can change almost instantaneously. It’s one of the most fascinating things to watch as you’re shooting. I remember a certain impatience when painting out- of -doors. Light across a landscape invariably changed faster then I could lay color down. Photography helped me to document and return to the memory as I painted. I love shooting colors and light and then applying both to fabric -color infused with light.

I found a interesting color overview online about the use of colors in web design. It speaks to the association of a color in relation to how they make people feel. What colors are you attracted to and why? Serenity

Yes, that’s my leg and boot snuggled under his torso, making sure Buddha is relaxed during his final surgery.

This afternoon we re-introduced our Serenity statue to his rock throne in the garden- after months of repair. He never once lost his serene smile, now as I cradled him on the floor, while my husband drilled the last of three 22” screws into his base to attach him top to bottom. No sooner had we re-deposited him on his perch then the rains started. It’s been raining ever since and I’m pretty sure he brought the monsoon rains to Connecticut from his native Burma. Not to worry, many coats of tung oil and varnish, designed to weather storms of many kinds.

I like this song, and I enjoy the message Stevie Nicks shares with Sheryl Crow before it. They relate to wild women in search of strong men. I suggest that as much as her point is well taken for women who travel and perform as they do, every woman should ask the question of her intended mate.” Are you strong enough to be my man?” Still, success in a relationship comes through mutual exchange. I would say that yes, Larry is strong enough, as long as I’m willing to match it. Sheryl Crow & Stevie Nicks “Are You Strong Enough To Be My Man?”

I’m crazy about roses of all kinds. Paola Pillows…Historically beautiful. And no thorns!Serenity
