We‘re visiting a dear old friend in the hospital tomorrow, probably for the last time. I love the name of this song that surfaced today as I was driving down the road. Boris, our friend, is a HUGE jazz fan and is also forever young at heart. Boris is a man who’ll be missed by people of all ages. Always enthusiastic and full of stories; sports car racing, music and…life in general. He loved life and those of us fortunate enough to wander by.

So, Anna Kendrick – who performed the headline song, is an American actress and singer who was a child actor in theater productions and later film. One being Pitch Perfect, a 2012 teen movie. The plot follows a girls a cappella group that competes with another a cappella group to win the college Nationals. More about the movie here.

Anna uses cups as percussion in her song. (More about the cups phenom here) The original Carter family GOSPEL first generation version of this song was about dying..A Baptist song from 1928..vintage but interesting- sounds pretty different from Anna’s version.

What to bring when someone’s dying? Of course, I’m a big fan of flowers.  miss meBoris was spared live ones in favor of a soft Paola fabric flower-this one…Larry’s idea. I will place it under the dear man’s head. Like it or not,…we’ll all be there sometime. Live life well today and plan to make this year a happy, intimate holiday season you’ll have great memories of.
