Teak, Citrus and Tung Oil

Wood finishing ingredients with a seductive ring to them. For some foolish reason in updating our house, we surrounded ourselves with outdoor materials that demand protection from the elements. Mahogany decks and bamboo fencing require sun/mold protection almost every year. A wooden statue and Asian door made for tropical weather were not created for Zone 5- Connecticut. For several weeks, family members have been watching over my older sister who’s been ill with Alzheimer’s for many years. She’s finally reaching her end of life. Hosting out of town family members has become a new reality for those of us nearby. And not entirely unpleasant. Whenever else would we make the time? I take solace in creative work. The Age of Morning Glories

Morning Glories are some of my favorite flowers- especially the color called Midnight Blue. I start them from seed and then as with many flowers, I photograph them through their entire life cycle. What I’ve learned about most flowers is that they change color as they age, and they take on new, sometimes unusual characteristics. No one stage is less beautiful than another.
