I Can’t Believe They Took the Whole Tree

Well, they didn’t. Most of the huge tree standing high above the garden was cut down last week. We retained 24” for planting. We knew that for all its height and leafy crown, the tree had lots of rot and had been serving as a home for crowds of chipmunks eating the garden underground. Can you see the stump on the hill? Fall is coming in and out I go.

It’s after midnight and I’m not quite sure what to share … another late night. Today has been a bit of a roller coaster but what else is new? It’s my life now, and per usual, lots of math factors in. Seasonal Optimism – Azalea Bloom in Autumn

I was surprised to find this bloom on one of the azalea bushes yesterday as I was weeding in preparation for their autumn holly tone application. I’m pretty sure the bush bloomed in early spring.  I was glad to see there weren’t any other buds this close to snowfall in Litchfield, Connecticut… Must be a left over.
